Michael Neil over at growit3d.com posts a great video explaining the principles of 3D printing by contrasting well-known 'subtractive' manufacturing processes such as milling with 3D printing, which is an 'additive' manufacturing process.
The machine he's demonstrating is the Objet Connex500 multi-material 3D printer. This is the world's only additive manufacturing technology able to 'grow' objects with different materials properties designated to different areas of the same part.
This may sound like nothing special when you read the words but to see it in action and to handle the end result is quite incredible.
