Speedo Shaves Weeks off Prototyping Time using Objet’s Multi-Material 3D Printer

tct magazine features this fantastic case study of Speedo – the market leading swimwear brand. It’s worth going to the link to read the whole story yourself, but in short, their UK based R&D facility recently installed an Objet Connex350 multi-material 3D printer courtesy of Objet’s UK distributor, OPS Limited.

The machine is used by their staff every single day; “allowing prototypes to go from CAD models in the morning to in the pool by the afternoon.”

Using the multi-material capability that’s unique to the Objet Connex 3D printer allows Speedo scientists and designers to realistically visualize and test their swim product designs like no other RP technology out there. For example, goggles usually consist of both rigid and rubber elements: Objet’s multi-material capability simultaneously prints both these rigid and rubber elements of the goggles – not separately – but in a single print job.
