Objet Makes a Flying Visit to Film UK Customers!

This week is a busy week for Objet’s mobile film production department! We’ve flown into Manchester airport in the UK for a 4-day whirlwind visit of some very special customers where we plan to film and document exactly how they’re using 3D printing technology to create and enhance their business.

Testing the rubber-like seal on a gas-mask component created on the Objet260 Connex multi-material 3D printer at Design Reality

Yesterday was our first stop, at a truly first class product design company called Design Reality. With a recent Objet260 Connex acquisition, they are thrilled with the results. Creating new and innovative designs for gas masks used by the UK defense establishment and some famous US firefighting companies, they find the Connex’s ability to mix rubber-like and rigid properties in the same prototype as essential to their work.

Interestingly, they were also thrilled to hear about the new Digital Material combinations now available for the Objet Clear Transprent material (VeroClear) which enables them to mix black rubber-like material (TangoBlackPlus) with the transparent Vero material in various shades and Shore A values (read what people say about it here). They plan to use this in future to create various eye-wear with rubber-like over-molded seals in a single step without the need for gluing.

Stay tuned over the coming weeks to see the final film!
