Ready for a road trip unlike any other? Stratasys is proud to be a co-sponsor of the 3DRV, a recreational vehicle tricked out with the latest 3D printing technology! The 3DRV is in the midst of the Driven by Design Tour, a seven-month journey through the United States. TJ McCue, a 3D printing enthusiast who has written extensively about the industry and technology, as well as being the owner of Refine Digital, is at the wheel. McCue is navigating the 3DRV to examine the impact that 3D printing technology is having on how we design and make things.
The 3DRV pulled into legendary Eden Prairie, Minnesota, to visit Stratasys’ North American sales headquarters on June 30. McCue spoke to a capacity crowd about his adventures travelling across the US in the 3DRV, learning about what is happening in 3D printing.
Jack Stubbs, from the University of Minnesota, presented innovations in medical training using 3D printing to produce true-to-life mannequins.
As a part of the visit, the Stratasys demonstration room was filled before and after the presentation with 3D printers, parts and lots of great conversation from 3D printing enthusiasts.
The 3DRV left San Francisco in May and has already traveled more than 3,000 miles. At its heart, the 3DRV voyage is uncovering how 3D printing is remaking how things are designed and fabricated. Along the way there have been stops at colleges, companies, a military base and even national parks, sharing the excitement and capabilities of 3D printing and other associated technologies such as 3D scanning. With the Stratasys 3D Printers on board, McCue has been conducting 3D printing demonstrations and answering questions about manufacturing, prototyping and more.
The 3DRV and the Driven by Design Tour are sponsored by Stratasys, Autodesk, HP, Nvidia, Jayco and FARO.
