Steve Fournier General Atomics | Stratasys Direct

A service bureau will deliver something, but there’s no quality clauses or the rigor of manufacturing to deliver a fully functional flight part repeatably, at least from our industry standpoint. A contract manufacturer (such as Stratasys Direct) will take responsibility for the quality and will be audited and take that level of stringency to deliver that hardware, not only once, but always to the same quality level.

3D Printing Service Process

1.  Instant Online Quote & Order: Start by getting your instant 3d printing quote online.  Here you can load your STL or native CAD file, select your technology and material needs, or use the  Stratasys Direct's Help Me Choose feature to narrow down options based on your requirements.

2. Expert Review: Upon order placement, highly experienced engineers analyze your part geometry, orientation, and printing settings to ensure optimal production.

3. Scheduling and Setup: Once approved, your parts are scheduled on the most suitable machine based on the build setup and your desired completion date. The scheduling department generates detailed paperwork accompanying your parts throughout the process.

4. Meticulous Manufacturing: Each step from scheduling to shipment, involves a thorough check-off process. Our technicians verify and initial the paperwork for each completed step, ensuring the highest quality standards and traceability.

5. Quality Control: Throughout the process, parts undergo visual inspections both during the build and before support removal. Additionally, the finishing department performs dimensional checks to ensure parts meet tolerance specifications.

6. Advanced Finishing (Optional): If your project requires it, parts undergo secondary post-processing. This can include various techniques like hardware installation, smoothing, polishing, coatings, or painting to name a few.

7. Final Inspection and Shipment: Parts requiring additional checks are sent to our quality lab for specialized inspections (e.g., CMM per GD&T standards). Once all approvals are complete and documents created, your parts are carefully packaged, labeled, and shipped directly to your chosen destination.
